Using the sensual qualities of oil, Rebecca Bennett creates layered abstractions that explore the dynamics of color, line, and texture. The viewers are encouraged by the abstraction to interpret their experience of the work rather than the work itself. Rebecca's work plays with the abstracted modern landscape, often incorporating a strong horizon line. Light and dark, space and scale are utilized to encourage the viewers to step into the work and react, as well as reflect. Rebecca's process involves a partnership between the artist and paint, as they negotiate the surface of the canvas as if the paint possessed animated qualities
