Danielle Ivester is an abstract fiber artist living and working in Austin, Texas. She creates intuitive paintings using raw canvas and acrylic paint, employing multiple thin washes that she later cuts and sews together. Her work delves into the realms of color and form as perceived in nature, drawing inspiration primarily from the landscapes of the northeast, where she grew up, and Central Texas, her current home.
Ivester's art challenges the conventional definition of a painting by incorporating sewing as a means to introduce texture and physicality into her pieces, effectively blurring the lines between craft and fine art. She earned her BFA in studio art from Endicott college in 2013, where a course in color theory ignited her passion for exploring color and form within the context of abstract landscapes. Today, Ivester's work is significantly influenced by the artists Helen Frankenthaler and Anni Albers.
